General Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Suite Receptionist serves as a member of the finance staff performing a variety of information gathering services for patients of Family Health Center, Inc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greets and registers patients as they arrive at the clinic(s);
  • Verifies patient insurance and eligibility;
  • Completes information in patient’s health records on demographics, billing address, insurance, etc. using computer technology;
  • Answers the telephone, schedules appointments, and screens calls for health care providers according to established protocols;
  • Participates in periodic review of the patients’ electronic health records, as assigned;
  • Completes and finalizes reports at the end of day;
  • Receives and sorts incoming mail;
  • Retrieves and files departmental information;
  • Prepares requisitions for various supplies;
  • Prepares the work area for the next business day;
  • Performs other necessary duties as required by Family Health Center, Inc. to meet the fiscal and clinical goals of the organization.


  • High school diploma or GED, some college preferred;
  • Experience working with computer applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint);
  • At least one year of experience working in an office and/or health care environment;
  • Type 35 words per minute;
  • Good interpersonal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated competence to perform the duties of this position description, including the ability to work well with others; and
  • The ability to relate with warmth and understanding to the patients and staff of Family Health Center, Inc.
